Journey to the Black Sea: From Bulgaria to Romania

DAY 1

Departure at 07:15. Crossing the Greek–Bulgarian border at Ormenio and entering Bulgaria. Passing through Svilengrad and Topolovgrad, we follow a beautiful route along the slopes of the Strandzha Mountains, arriving at the Black Sea and the city of Burgas. There will be free time for lunch and a walk along the seaside promenade.

We continue via Varna to Golden Sands, where check-in at the hotel will take place. Time to relax. In the evening, buffet dinner and a stroll along the impressive beach. Overnight stay.

Baltsik 1

DAY 2

Breakfast at the hotel and departure at 09:00 for the Kaliakra Peninsula (entrance fee: 3 leva). This historic area was inhabited by the Thracian tribe of the Tirizi from the 4th century BC. Afterwards, visit to Balchik (ancient Dionysopolis), including a tour of its impressive gardens and the summer palace of the Romanian royal family.

We continue to the resort town of Albena, where there will be free time for lunch. Return to the hotel for rest or swimming. Dinner, followed by an evening coach tour of Varna until 23:30. Overnight stay.

DAY 3

Breakfast and departure at 08:15 (ID cards required). Passing through Dobrich and the Vama Dobromir border crossing, we arrive at Adamclisi, where we will visit the Monastery of Saint Andrew and the cave where he lived.

Next, we visit Trajan’s Monument, dedicated to his victory over the Dacians. Afterwards, arrival in Constanța, also known as the place of exile of the poet Ovid. Tour of the historic center and free time for shopping and lunch. Return via the seaside resorts and the historic town of Mangalia. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 4

Breakfast and departure at 08:30 for the return journey. Stop at the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, followed by a visit to Mesembria (Nessebar), known as the “Pearl of the Black Sea.” Free time to stroll through the picturesque alleys with traditional houses and numerous historic churches.

Optional visit to the Archaeological Museum and time for lunch. Afterwards, departure for the Monastery of Saint George in Anchialos, and return via Burgas, Elhovo, and Topolovgrad. Border crossing and arrival in Greece.
